Second Annual Retreat: "Bowling" with Fabric
Many, many thanks to Suzan Hirsch, Robin Leve nberg, Cindy Friedman, and all
the others who helped ensure the success of the Second Annual Heartstrings Retreat!
We all had a day of fun, spontaneity, and total
creativity at the Marriott Conshohocken making fabulous fabric bowls. Starting
with a basic square design,
Suzan and Robin helped us through the intricacies of fusing, measuring, and
cutting darts. Everyone finished one bowl — some even made two. And the
results were impressive! There was an endless variety of
color and design, several members cut decorative edges and embellished with
couching and other techniques. Please bring your bowls from the retreat (and
any others you’ve made!) to display at the February
meeting to share with those who could not join us for the retreat.
After a full morning of “bowling,” Cindy Friedman, with generous assistance from all, helped us walk through stacks of abandoned projects and orphan blocks. After trying many ideas, we finally rescued one forlorn top — it had the perfect fabric to put the crowning touches on a piece brought by Gwen Gatto!
I can’t wait to see what we plan for next year!
