October Meeting Minutes
Co-president Robin Levenberg led the business meeting. Robin confirmed that
meetings will start at 7:15 unless there is a speaker, in which case the business
meeting will begin at 7:00 and the speaker will present at 7:30. Cindy Friedman
reported on the Linda Creed Candle Lighting. Heartstrings sold 59 pins. More
pins are needed for the volunteer luncheon and holiday gift giving. Gretchen
Schroeder, designer of the Heartstrings pin, will email those who need foundation
papers a PDF file of the pin that can be printed on inkjet printers with Easy
Tear foundation sheets.

The holiday pot luck meeting in December will be held at Susan Soiferman’s home. Tracy Kuehn is assembling raffle baskets for the event and is looking for contributions of quilting tools, accessories, etc.
The evening’s program was devoted to Show and Tell and Tips and Tools.
Among the highlights:
· Annie Cohen showed two quilts and a work in progress.
· Susan Soiferman showed two Chinese lantern quilts
in progress.
· Stephanie Unger showed two art quilts, one using elements
from the Sedgwick calendar.
· Suzan Hirsch demonstrated a home garden sprayer, available
for $12 from Home Depot, that she uses for steaming.
· Debbie Schwartzman recommended the Rowenta Sew &
Press iron, available online for $54.
· Robin Levenberg showed two quilts and recommended
a folding ruler for squaring quilts.
· Donna LeBlanc showed several quilts.
· Lin Vandenberg showed her eclectic series of Heartstrings
pins and a memorial tree that will be given to the Linda Creed group.
· Soryl Angel showed the Heartstrings raffle quilt won
by her mother-in-law. It now resides with Soryl.
· Gretchen Schroeder. showed a new quilted cell phone
holder. Daughter Emma read a poem about quilters, and daughter Tracy showed
a cover she is making for her Bat Mitzvah.
· Judy Allison showed a quilt.
· Lonni Rossi showed her new fabric line.
· Cindy Friedman showed a beaded purse she knitted.
· Bonnie Atwood recommended a steamless iron available
from the Vermont Country Store.
· Jo-Ann Dooley demonstrated a basting glue for appliqué,
clip on magnifiers and a thimble from Roxanne.
· Marcy George showed a quilt she made at a quilting
retreat.
· Renee Neibauer showed hand-knitted scarves.
