December Meeting Minutes

Our December meeting was our annual Holiday Dinner, complete with delicious food, an exciting Chinese Auction, wonderful desserts and the beautiful setting of Cindy Friedman's lovely home.

Janet welcomed everyone and began the meeting by asking Cindy to talk about the membership sheet that had been sent out with the newsletter. Please fill out and send to Cindy along with your $25 membership fee.

Janet announced the procedure for voting on our meeting place for the coming year. The secret ballots were handed out to those present and will be mailed to those not present. There are 4 places that made the final list: our present location, Bala Fire House, Bala Methodist Church, Phil Hand Weavers Guild. Each venue has pros and cons which were included with the ballot. Janet asked that the ballots be mailed back to her before Christmas BUT please remember that we are not being pressured into making a hasty decision.

January Meeting: will be a group Show and Tell. We will also be making an "in-house" project at the meeting.

Program Committee: Robin Levenberg and Suzan Hirsch would like to phase out as program chairs. There will be a quilt guild consortium meeting in January and they would like to invite anyone who thinks she/he may be interested to attend along with them. Many events are already scheduled for next year and we discussed the idea of restructuring things so that members can teach or talk about their own work.

First Annual Quilters Workshop Reteat: This exciting event will take place Jan 25, 2003 at the Conshohocken Marriott from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Our own talented Deborah Schwartzman will be our teacher and she will show us how to work with HEXAGONS and curved piecing. The cost will be a mere $20 (this includes a $5 kit fee). Bring your own sewing machine that can put down the feed dogs and learn how to do free motion curved piecing and quilting. The supply list will be available at the January meeting along with additional information. Call Robin Levenberg or Suzan Hirsch for reservations and info.
