From the President
One of the highlights events
of Heartstrings is our December potluck dinner. While our potlucks are always
an epicurean delight, the event of the evening is our “Chinese auction.”
Who knew that a few fat quarters of material could bring out the “vicious”,
in our normally, quiet, little quilting group? From the bantering, bargaining,
and conniving that takes place, you would think that those few inches of fabric
were precious jewels. Striving for that perfect piece of fabric is a goal that
all of us look for in our quilts.
This is a reflective time
of year, and as quilters, we have many things to be thankful for. For me, the
abundance and colors that are now available in fabric make me want to spend
the day behind my machine. Fabric manufacturers recognize that we quilters are
a strong, vocal group and are working to meet our needs. I am thankful for my
sewing machine, which keeps on working with only an occasional thread break
that allows me to create. But mostly, I am thankful to this group of quilters
who amaze me each and every meeting with their beautiful quilts that make me
strive to be a better quilter.
Happy holidays to you and
yours,
Robin and Suzan
